Service Project

Dear Brethren & Sisters,

Attached below is the email from Bishop Neff to the Nineteenth ward members concerning their Humanitarian project for Haiti at 9:00 AM on Saturday in our ward building. We are inviting all Riverwoods members to participate with the Nineteenth ward in assembling the Hygiene kits. I've asked Rob Faux to represent the Bishopric as both Becky & I will be working Saturday morning.
On Sunday, we will be announcing the need for donations to help pay for the Hygiene kits.

Thanks for your help in getting the word out on this important opportunity to help our brother ans sisters in Haiti.

Bishop Nyman

Dear brothers and sisters,
I am certain you are aware of the suffering caused by the devastating earth that struck Haiti earlier this week. The pain and suffering that these brothers and sisters are experiencing are unimaginable. I, like you, am shocked by reports of the numbers of expected dead, injured and homeless. Veteran members of the media say that they have never seen anything like what they are witnessing on this impoverished island in the Caribbean.
We live in a day when we are blessed beyond measure by a loving Heavenly Father. Part of our responsibility, when so blessed, is to take every opportunity to share our gifts with those in need. As a ward family, I see your generosity and I know that our Heavenly Father loves you because of your goodness.
After prayerful consideration, coordinating with our stake presidency, Provo church humanitarian leadership and with our ward welfare committee, I am asking the following:
• Join with our ward and the Riverwoods ward this
Saturday, January 16th at 9:00 AM to build hygiene kits to be delivered to the church humanitarian services department.
I have been told that what the church has on hand won't be enough to cover the needs from this disaster. All family members are invited to attend. It is expected that we will work for 2 hours building an estimated 1,000 hygiene kits.
Church service missionaries will be on hand to supervise, support and approve the kit building activity.
• Raise the money necessary for the cost of the kits. I am keenly aware of trying economic circumstances. The majority of you pay a full tithe, give a generous fast offering and support multiple charities. Please pray to know how to financially support this most righteous endeavor. Each kit costs approximately $5.00. Money to pay for these supplies needs to be raised prior to Saturday to pay for the supplies. Your priesthood and relief society presidencies will contact you by phone seeking donations and commitments for donations. All checks should be written to Edgemont 19th ward and can be noted "Haiti project."
• All members, regardless of their ability to contribute financially, are encouraged to join us at the ward to help build these hygiene kits.
• This Saturday is also a stake emergency preparedness drill. Your priesthood leaders will be creatively combining our Haiti project with this drill to make sure we are accounting for each member during this exercise.
I know that Heavenly Father will bless each of you with a greater sense of love as we participate in this week's disaster relief program. I promise you a greater love for your brothers and sisters and a greater love for the Savior as you faithfully participate.

Thank you for your love and support,
- Bishop Neff
