Dear Members of the Riverwoods Ward:
We love you dearly. Thanks for your great friendship and love. We miss you. You are the best!
The missionary work is so amazing. So many wonderful miracles happen every day.
Not too long ago I visited a home of two elders, Elder Huber and Elder Santana, and after a talk with them I told them that “they were angels of God.” I don’t think they fully understood my words when I told them that, but the next day they came to know that my words were true.
They were knocking on doors without any success from 5pm to 8pm. It was raining heavily, and they were getting very discouraged. At about 8:00 pm, when they were ready to give up they walked around this dark street and went to the direction of the only light that they saw.
As they knocked on the door this lady invited them in and said: “Welcome, we have been waiting for you. My mother, who is 104 years old and has been in bed for a few months, and who is blind, just told me a few minutes ago that two angels of God with white shirts would be knocking on our door.” The missionaries went in and then went to this lady’s room, and she said that she had a vision of them coming to her house.
Another incredible experience happened to Elder Harmon and Elder M. Cardoso last week. They went to make contacts by the hospital, like my husband taught them. They got to the hospital and saw an older lady. They started talking to her and asked her if they could do anything for her. They lady asked them to go visit her daughter who was very ill, dying from cancer, in one of the upper floors of the hospital. She then told the missionaries her daughter’s name and room number at the hospital.
The missionaries started writing down the information and when they turned the lady was gone, without any notice. So they went up to her daughter’s room. They gave her a blessing and felt impressed to cure her from her cancer. The woman got 100% well. She asked the missionaries how they found her. The missionaries told her that her mom met with them at the front of the hospital and send them there. The woman said that was impossible, since her mother died 10 years before.
The missionaries looked very puzzled and said: “but she is exactly like you and she told us she was your mom and told us to come and bless you…” The woman started to cry and showed them a picture of her mom, who was the same lady that they saw at the front of the hospital. Tomorrow they are baptizing this woman, who they found through one of the most amazing miracles I have ever seen.
These are our missionaries, amazing young men, full of faith. I am so thankful for experiencing these miracles first hand. We have miracles every single day. So many incredible things are happening, such as baptizing a Jewish woman and her husband, healing and baptizing a man who was completely addicted to crack. The baptism of a lady who has been searching the church for over 15 years, and finally felt through our missionaries that the Church is true.
The number of baptisms are up and we give the missionaries full credit for that. We know the numbers are going to continue to go up, until a prophecy from President Eyring to us is fulfilled. How lucky we are to be here and live to see these promises.
Serving this mission give us the chance to completely forget ourselves and our own needs. Nothing can be more important than pleasing He, the one who lived his pre-mortal and mortal life, and who will live after this life for us and our benefit. He, who’s sacrifice is infinite and eternal.
Our missionaries are the love of our lives. We love them beyond measure. We encourage all of you to serve a mission, to leave everything behind, and go eat of the fruit of the most delicious tree.
Sincerely,
President & Sister Queiroz
